🎬 How to Plan for a Brand Video Shoot: Your Must-Have Checklist (Part 2)
Welcome back, changemaker!
In Part 1, we nailed down the strategy, your brand voice, content priorities, and the visual details that bring your mission to life. With that clarity, you’re already miles ahead!
Now that you have your strategic foundation, it’s time to focus on the unique elements of video and those all-important final logistics. This video shoot checklist will ensure you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to truly connect with your audience on camera, guaranteeing your brand video planning pays off!
Stepping Up to Video (Finding Your Voice)
Unlike photography, video requires a different kind of preparation, especially when you, the business owner, are on camera. Remember, we're aiming for genuine connection.
Prepare a Script or Talking Points
You absolutely do not need to memorize a speech. The goal here is for your words to come across as authentic, clear, and confident.
Focus on Key Messages: List the three most essential points your video needs to communicate (e.g., your mission, client results, a call to action).
Practice Out Loud: Reading your points helps you hear how you sound and how long it is
Record Yourself: Watching yourself helps you adjust your natural speaking pace and energy before the official shoot day. This is a top on-camera confidence tip!
Voice, Energy, and Delivery Tips
On the day of the shoot, a little self-care goes a long way toward fantastic delivery.
Stay Hydrated: Water is a miracle worker for your voice and energy.
Smile, Breathe, Speak Slower: Most people naturally speed up on camera. Practice speaking about 10–20% slower than you usually would. And don’t forget to smile! A slight smile will instantly bring warmth to your video.
Trust the Process: We can always pause, re-record, and refine until the message feels exactly right.
A little preparation goes a long way. Checking in on the small details ensures that when the camera starts rolling, you can feel completely at ease.
The Final Countdown (Week/Few Days Before)
With the creative preparation complete, the final steps focus on logistics. Double-checking these elements ensures a smooth, stress-free shoot day for everyone involved.
Confirm the Logistics
Date, Time, and Location: Re-confirm the final timing and address.
Who’s Involved: Confirm the number of people and their specific roles.
Length of Shoot: Review the agreed-upon timeline.
Parking/Access/Setup Needs: Confirm where to park and whether we need specific access codes or time for setup. This is a critical step in any video shoot checklist.
Rest, Hydrate, and TRUST
This is the most important item on the checklist, and it requires no active work!
Get Sleep, Drink Water, Eat Something: You need energy and a clear mind.
Trust Your Videographer to Guide You: You don’t have to "perform." My job is to capture the most authentic version of you. We are aiming to give your customers the truest version of you and your brand.
The world isn’t looking for a flawless performance;
it’s looking for a genuine connection. And when you can tell a story or share a transformation or an offer that truly connects with others, that’s exactly where the magic happens. You are so much more ready than you think. ✨
You’re More Ready Than You Think
You've done the work. You clarified your mission, strategized your visuals, and prepared your voice. Now, let the intentional content you’ve created do the heavy lifting!
Remember this: Perfection is in the imperfection. We are not aiming for flawless execution; we are aiming for authentic connection. The vulnerabilities that make you relatable and human are a direct path to trust with your audience.
I am here to ensure your brand's unique impact is captured with clarity and confidence. The world is ready to see the amazing work you do.
